Our Origin Story:
In 2011, around the family dinner table, siblings with divergent ideas found common ground – the desire to create something special in Cochrane. From bakery dreams to cheese factory fantasies, it was Kyle's suggestion of a microbrewery that ignited our shared passion. Fast forward through years of dedication, and Half Hitch Brewing Company was born – a microbrewery and restaurant crafting delicious bites alongside exceptional brews. Out of the leftover grain, The Mash emerged – our latest creation. We transform spent grain into uniquely flavorful pizza dough, a perfect companion to Half Hitch pints.
Pizza Dough with a Twist:
At The Mash, we turn brewing byproducts into a culinary delight. Our spent grain, courtesy of our Papa Bear Prairie Ale, becomes the heart of our dough. Papa Bear, a pioneer in the "Canadian Cereal Ale" category, features barley, wheat, rye, and oats from Alberta and Saskatchewan. It's a malt-forward, low-hop, and distinctly Canadian ale with 5% alcohol – because Canadians like to party. Explore our lineup, and if Papa Bear doesn't win you over, we're sorry, eh.
