“When my kids were little we would make a day of it downtown: books from the library, treats to take home from the Candy Boutique, and some picnic items from the Grapevine deli to eat by the river, then old fashioned ice cream from the Apothecary.

Now that they are older we still do the Candy Boutique, check out the Art Gallery, enjoy a delicious meal at the Turkish Coffeehouse or Rigani Greek Cuisine, and finish with a stroll by the river.

I have been known to pamper myself for the day by selecting the best French macarons from Macarons & Goodies, going for a facial or eyebrow shaping at one of the excellent beauty salons, and following that with dinner and wine with friends at the incomparable Tryst.”
